7 Cornet Merit Auditions For Senior BandTraining Band players who are playing at Grade 2 standard or above may be interested in auditioning for a place in Senior Band for September. If you would like to be considered, please e-mail Helen by Thursday 27st May, and we will arrange an audition time for you before the summer holidays.Brass LessonsYoung and enthusiastic brass teacher has vacancies for pupils of all standards. Dates for your diarySunday 18th April – National Youth Brass Band Championships, RNCMThe band will be playing 1st in the Junior Section. Players need to make their own way to the RNCM, Oxford Road, Manchester, to arrive no later than 11.30am. Here is a link to the RNCM website, if you need to find directions. Please wear your red polo shirts with black trousers / socks / shoes, and bring your suit bag with your waistcoat and bow tie to change into. Our performance will take place at 12.30 and the results will be at 1.40pm. Sunday 23rd May – Training & Senior Band Concert, St John's Church, Mosley Common Afternoon Concert. Arrive 2.30pm for a 3pm start. Formal uniform. Tickets are £5, but band parents can buy them for £2.50. Half Term Holiday There will be no band rehearsals on Thursday 3rd June Friday 25th June – Senior Band Concert, Great Hall, Bolton School The 9th annual "3 Bands Concert" with Wigan and Bolton Youth Bands. Arrive 7pm for a 7.30 start. No tickets in advance; pay on the door. £4 adults, £3 concessions. The venue address is Bolton School, Chorley New Road, Bolton, BL1 4PA. Friday 9th July – Annual Prizegiving, Buffet and Disco, Tyldesley Rugby Club Concert, Buffet and Disco at Tyldesley Rugby Club. Arrive 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Formal uniform for the concert, but players can bring party clothes to change into after we've played. We hope that every band member from Training Band and Senior Band will be there, with their parents, and perhaps grandparents, aunts and uncles, as this is an evening of celebration for everyone. All players will be presented with a certificate of achievement, and many will receive cups and trophies. Tickets will be on sale after the half term holiday, and must be purchased in advance as we need numbers for the food. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for playing band members and children. Every band member must have a ticket to cover the cost of the buffet and disco. The bar will be open and the seating will be informal, around tables so families can sit together. The Mayor of Wigan, the President of Astley Rotary Club, and other trophy sponsors are invited. Thurs 26th – Tues 31st August – Tour to Armagh, Northern Ireland. Final details will shortly be sent out to those taking part. |
